Research Interests

My research explores the linguistic, cognitive and cultural factors that underpin (pre)school-aged children's acquisition of English as an additional language. I am particularly interested in two topics under this research umbrella. The first is the phenomenon of cross-linguistic influence: through experimental tasks, I aim to investigate the effects that knowing a first language might have on the children's development of a second language. The second is the relationship between the arts and language learning: using quantitative, qualitative and arts-based methods, I intend to evaluate whether the use of artistic activities (such as theatre) can benefit language development, teaching and maintenance. If you are interested in either of these topics, have a look at my publicationspresentations and blogposts, and read about the research projects I am (or have been) involved in.

Other Interests

I am a trained stage actress, and can often be found performing in English and/or Greek with Theatre Lab Company. I am also an associate of Collide Theatre, with whom I have worked on numerous theatrical and outreach projects since their creation in 2015. In addition to acting, I enjoy baking, reading, and taking care of my (many!) house plants.
